Niketa Kalara, MD, is an Assistant Professor at West Virginia University, where she provides inpatient and outpatient endocrinology care and is involved in fellow education and supervision. She completed her Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, with additional training at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and previously completed Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach.

During fellowship, Dr. Kalara served as Chief Education Fellow and was actively involved in curriculum development, trainee mentorship, and multidisciplinary education. Her academic interests include adrenal and pituitary disorders, diabetes, thyroid disease, women health and medical education. She has contributed to quality improvement, and scholarly work presented at national endocrine meetings. Her work has received several recognitions, including the Glenn Cunningham Clinical Excellence Award, Best Poster Award at Baylor College of Medicine’s Quality Academy Day, the Outstanding Trainee Poster Award from the American Thyroid Association, and Excellence in Endocrinology recognition from the Endocrine Society. Her commitment to medical education was recognized with the Trainee Excellence Award from Baylor College of Medicine’s Academy of Resident and Fellow Educators, and she earned certification as a Distinguished Fellow Educator.

As a junior faculty member, Dr. Kalara is committed to providing thoughtful, patient-centered endocrine care while continuing to develop her interests in clinical education, mentorship, and academic endocrinology.
