Why did you choose WVU? I’ve done a lot of travelling, and one thing I’ve noticed while completing rotations, going on vacations, etc, is the absolute need for physicians in the state of West Virginia. I chose WVU because it felt like the right place to grow into the kind of physician I want to be. I was drawn to the opportunity to care for the people of West Virginia and the surrounding Appalachian region, where there is such a great need for physicians and the chance to make a meaningful impact. Because of this need, the range of patients that walk into the ED doors is broad.
More than anything, though, it was the people who made WVU stand out. The camaraderie between the residents and faculty faculty, along with the genuine support from the residency leadership team were evident from my very first interactions. It was clear that this is a program that truly invests in its residents, both professionally and personally. I knew I would be challenged, supported, and surrounded by people who genuinely care.
