About Kimberly Carr
Dr. Carr is an interdisciplinary scholar and researcher with vast experience in community and rural health, health disparities, equity, and food among underserved and vulnerable populations, particularly racial and ethnic minority and rural populations. She serves as a Research Associate
for the WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health, where her work will focus on land, capital, and market access in Central Appalachia, spanning six states and 77 counties. Before this, Dr. Carr served in multiple capacities across public health and food systems. She was the District Program Manager for the West Central Health District, Georgia Department of Public Health, a Community Resource and Assessment Specialist at the Georgia Rural Health
Innovation Center at Mercer University School of Medicine, and a post-doctoral research associate in two centers at Michigan State University, the Center for Regional Food Systems and the Center for Interdisciplinarity where her work focused on assessing food sovereignty and racial equity in Michigan.
