About David Brooks II
Hometown: Richmond, Virginia
Undergraduate institution: Randolph-Macon College
Medical school: Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine
Why did you choose WVU? The opportunity to work at a high acuity level 1 trauma center with access to rural community hospitals, all in a beautiful place. During my interview and second look, I was really impressed by the leadership team’s dedication to cultivating a learning environment that was both rigorous and focused on resident wellness. Morgantown has access to all of my favorite activities right outside my front door, including mountain biking, hiking, whitewater, and plenty of parks.
Brief bio: I grew up in Richmond, VA and spent most of my time outdoors exploring new places. After college I moved to the Spruce Knob/Seneca Rocks area, lived in a yurt, and led outdoor education trips for school children in the West Virginia backcountry for several years. My interest in emergency medicine began after thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail and Continental Divide Trail and encountering wilderness medicine scenarios in real life. In my free time I can be found exploring the backcountry, volunteering and teaching children about the outdoors, and riding one of my (too)many bikes all around town.
