About Manali Vora

Dr. Manali Vora is a one-of-a-kind professional in the field of dentistry, carving her niche as a periodontist, epidemiologist, and dedicated academician. Dr. Vora's academic journey began with a solid foundation in dentistry, earning her bachelor’s in dental surgery (BDS) degree from AMC Dental College, Gujarat University. A strong advocate for evidence-based dentistry, Dr. Vora's journey took an academic turn as she pursued further education in epidemiology. Armed with a master’s in public Heath-Epidemiology from University Washington, she harnessed her analytical skills to contribute to the understanding of the prevalence, risk factors, and preventive measures for oral diseases. Her expertise is working with large datasets like Comprehensive Hospital Abstract Reporting System (CHARS) collected by Washington’s Department of Health, the Cancer Genomic Atlas (TCGA) data, and the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) study. After earning her MPH, Dr. Vora joined the UCSF’s Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education as a post-doctoral research scholar. At UCSF, her research focus was on alternative tobacco products, and oral health outcomes, especially periodontal health.

Driven by a desire to delve deeper into the complexities of periodontal health, she pursued advanced training at University of Connecticut, achieving specialization in periodontology.

Dr. Vora's commitment to education is evident in her role as an academician.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Vora actively participates in professional organizations like the AAP and IADR, contributing to the advancement of periodontology through conference presentations, publications, and collaborative initiatives. Her multidisciplinary approach, blending clinical expertise with epidemiological insights, positions her as a thought leader in the dynamic landscape of oral health.
