About Kathryn Burnham
Kathryn (Katie) Burnham serves as an evaluator for the West Virginia Prevention Research Center (WV PRC). In this role, she acts as the liaison between the WV Bureau for Public Health Division of Health Promotion and Chronic Disease (HPCD) and the WV PRC. In her position, she is the project manager for the West Virginia Health Equity Action Team (WVHEAT), serves as a member of the Celebrating Healthy West Virginia Recognition Program team, and is evaluation lead for several HPCD initiatives and grants such as the National Cardiovascular Health Program (CDC 23-0004) and Strategic Approach to Advancing Health Equity for Priority Populations with or at Risk for Diabetes (CDC 23-0004) grants awarded to HPCD and the HPCD Capacity Building Grant Program. Her skills include evaluation, social science research, facilitation, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, technical and academic writing, and data translation.
Katie completed her BA in sociology with a concentration in criminology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2013 and her MA in criminology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2016. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the sociology program at West Virginia University (WVU). Her research interests include critical and conflict theories, race relations, social problems, and she adheres to the critical race theory paradigm.
