After hearing anecdotal reports of misunderstandings around DS, we explored this question using surveys. We found that 42% of respondents believed that children with DS are prone to misbehavior and aggression. A survey of parents of children with DS supported the observation that the public was generally apprehensive of individuals with DS. These results pointed to a need for improved public education on DS. 2010-2011
