Dr. Catherine Kirbos, or “Kirby” as she’s affectionately known by peers, is a native of the great state of New Jersey. She completed her undergraduate education at The University of Scranton, graduating summa cum laude, with a BS degree in Biology and minor in Psychology. After her undergraduate education she spent a year working as a CNA before entering medical school at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) in Camden, NJ. She graduated in 2019 and entered the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at WVU, serving as Chief Resident during her final year. Kirby’s passion for teaching and medical education spurred her to join the inaugural class of the Medical Education & Administration Fellowship, through the WVU Department of Emergency Medicine. She and husband, Rob, fell in love with West Virginia, and are grateful to stay on as part of the WVU DEM family. Kirby is excited to continue growing as an educator and mentor to residents, bringing a hybrid community/academic perspective to patient care. Expect to see her around the department with a bright smile, positive attitude, and vibrantly colored crocs.
