About Yuval Rykaczewski
Hometown: Waltham, Massachusetts
Undergraduate institution: University of Massachusetts, Amherst
Medical school: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Seton Hill
Why did you choose WVU? I could tell even through my virtual interview how tight-knit and friendly everyone is here. I liked the setting of an academic center in a college town with opportunities to explore rural medicine as well. My second look only confirmed these positive feelings as I saw in person how generally happy everyone is here and what a nice facility it is. I also have to give a shout-out to Sydney who was the most organized and responsive coordinator I encountered on my interview trail.
Brief bio:
I was born in Israel and moved to the United States when I was one and a half. I grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts and after earning my Bachelor’s and Master’s from UMass I worked in the drug development industry for two years. While attending LECOM I met my now husband who is from Western PA, which quickly became my home. Despite the stress of moving, my medical journey has allowed me to experience so many new parts of the country which I am very grateful for. In my free time I enjoy reading, crocheting, and cooking new dishes with my husband. I was actively learning Krav Maga prior to COVID and I am also hoping to get back into that now as a resident.
