About Joshua Landavaso
I grew up with my three brothers in a small town in Arizona. Caring for the people of my community by working in several healthcare jobs prompted my pursuit of medical education.
I am thankful for the opportunity to experience a new region of the country, grow my knowledge of surgical diseases, explore my interests in healthcare, and participate in the care of patients in the state of West Virginia.
What attracted me to WVU Residency?
I was attracted to West Virginia University for residency because of an emphasis on clinical experience and the availability of various surgical subspecialties. Additionally, I have a strong interest in working with rural patient populations in my career, and Ruby Memorial Hospital serves a significant number of such patients.
What makes our program unique?
Ruby Memorial Hospital is the major tertiary care center and home to the only level-one trauma center in a state with a large, underserved rural population. As a result, West Virginia University provides a residency experience balanced with high acuity trauma and complex surgical pathologies in this patient demographic.
What do I like about Morgantown?
Plenty of outdoor activities are nearby to help me de-stress during my residency. The natural scenery is stunning, with beautiful post-card views around every corner on the back roads. Housing and the cost of living are very affordable, and the people are friendly and welcoming.
