Michael Stevens, MD, MPH, FSHEA, FIDSA, FACP is a Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases. He is WVU Health System's System Healthcare Epidemiologist and is the Medical Co-Director for the Virginia Infection Prevention Training Center.  Dr. Stevens’ research interests focus on pragmatic approaches to infection prevention. He has contributed to over 100 research abstracts presented at national and international conferences and has authored over 130 peer-reviewed papers. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America.

Co-Principal Investigator on a Virginia Department of Health grant to create a Virginia Infection Prevention Training Center. Award $6,000,000. July 2021-June 2023.

Co-recipient of a Virginia Commonwealth University Global Impact Grant for $2,500 to purchase an ultrasound machine to be used for clinical care and training in the context of VCU’s Global Health & Health Disparities Program (GH2DP) outreach efforts in Yoro, Honduras. October 2017.
