About Ahmed Haque
Raised in Bridgeport, WV, Dr. Ahmed A. Haque completed his undergraduate studies at West Virginia University with a major in Chemical Engineering and minor in French, studying abroad in Montpellier, France and working on potable water projects in the Dominican Republic and Uganda with Engineers Without Borders. He then completed received his M.D. Degree from WVU School of Medicine, graduating in the Rural Health and Global Health tracks. Passionate about serving fellow West Virginians and becoming an educator and academic internist, Dr. Haque stayed at West Virginia University to complete his Internal Medicine residency, where he also was proud to serve as Chief Resident from 2025-2026. As a resident, Dr. Haque was a preceptor for medical students in the PDCI curriculum and worked internationally with WVU IM in refugee camps and local healthcare systems in Uganda and Ghana.
Inspired by his father and grandfather who are both physicians, Dr. Haque’s professional interests are in medical education of students and residents, global health and its translation to health issues within Appalachia, public health advocacy/healthcare legislation, and narrative medicine, focusing on humanism and the face-to-face patient-physician relationship in an increasingly digital age to validate patients’ concerns and empower them to be the primary stakeholders in their long-term wellness. He is grateful to serve the same North-Central West Virginia community in which he grew up.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Haque is most likely watching his favorite soccer team, building LEGO models, or taking photos on his travels locally and abroad.
