Why did you choose WVU? EMS interest; chill; family support (couples matched and family planning); awesome T-shirt during interview season; wanted to move to a new region; family located in Ohio, NC, and NJ so WV was close to all those; this is THE hospital for the whole state, so you see everything, high patient acuity (30%+ admission rate when I interviewed, so good training); snowboarding; basketball
Brief bio: Dual Degree Biology and Chemistry at ECU. EMT-Basic 1 year before medical school. Strong EMS interest, also research. Big tech nerd. Main hobbies are video games, chess, reading, pathfinding (different from traveling), and soccer, but will pick and drop stuff because I get bored easily (boxing, juggling, fencing, gardening, guitar). Dogs > Cats. Darth Vader padawan. Have lived > 1 week in: Guatemala, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Bahamas, Canada, Spain, and India. Trilingual (English, Spanish, Hindi). Want to spend time in Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. There are 2 kinds of people in this world, people who will high five that weird dude holding the “Free High Fives” cardboard sign in the park, and those who quickly scurry past said weirdo. WVU definitely welcomes both, but I could be caught holding said sign.
