What attracted you to WVU Surgery Residency?
I was looking for an academic program without too many fellows that placed its graduates into both general surgery and any fellowship they desired. I wanted to be somewhere still affordable to live with unique training/research opportunities such as the perfused cadaver lab here at WVU. As I scrolled through the website, I also saw the number of residents who went to WVU for medical school which I think speaks to them having a good experience and wanting to stay.
What makes our program unique?
WVU has a large catchment area responsible for a large rural area not commonly seen in academic level 1 trauma centers. I was also impressed with the perfused cadaver training program during my interview something I didn’t see at any other program.
What do you like about living in Morgantown?
I’m brand new to West Virginia, but we love the scenery. The hills, how green it is, and after living in Texas, the seasons. Plus it has everything any suburb would in terms of shopping/food.
