Dr. Scheidler grew up in the Mountain State and is a native of Scott Depot, WV. He called Morgantown home for both his undergraduate studies and medical school education from 2009-2017. Dr. Scheidler started Emergency Medicine residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in 2017. In Winston Salem, working among inspiring colleagues and functioning as part of a large and productive team, he developed an interest in personal and team-based leadership skills. In his final year of residency, he was humbled to serve as chief resident which further cemented his aspiration of working in academic medicine. At Wake Forest, invaluable faculty mentorship and a robust EMS Division fostered his already strong interest in pre-hospital medicine. This provided ample opportunity for research involvement, networking, prehospital medical education, and development of the skills necessary for communication and oration.
In 2021, he completed fellowship in EMS and Disaster Medicine at Wake Forest. Ultimately, Dr. Scheidler, was called home to Morgantown to join the DEM at WVU. Dr. Scheidler is excited to join the incredible faculty at WVU in the pursuit of delivering quality healthcare to all West Virginians. He has a particular interest in rural pre-hospital medicine and the healthcare disparities that exist for individuals living in rural areas. When not at work, you will find Dr. Scheidler spending time with his wife and three sons. He loves going on adventures with his family – especially in their beautiful home state of WV.
