What attracted you to WVU surgery for a residency?
A family member went through the general surgery program 30 years ago and had a wonderful experience. I also liked the idea of working in a high-volume academic center while still being surrounded by nature and many outdoor recreational opportunities.
What makes our program unique?
The faculty and other residents are unwaveringly supportive. As an intern, the upper-level residents have facilitated a smooth transition into a residency by being both incredibly patient and dedicated to my education. The longitudinal curriculum of the fresh tissue training lab is a unique program to ensure competence and confidence with high-stakes and less commonly performed procedures.
What do you like about living in Morgantown?
I enjoy the serenity and quiet of living in a development surrounded by nature while still being incredibly close to the hospital, as well as restaurants and other businesses downtown. Table 9 makes the best burgers I have ever had, and they have a new one each week.
