About Denisse Arteaga Icaza
Dr. Arteaga was born and raised in Ecuador and later moved to Miami, Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami. After graduation, she worked as a medical scribe in a multi-specialty practice. She earned her medical degree from WVU School of Medicine in 2021. Dr. Arteaga was drawn to WVU Neurosurgery Residency Program by its patient population, outstanding academics, and phenomenal faculty. She has a special interest in spine surgery and MIS techniques, and plans to return to Florida to practice. Outside of the hospital and the OR, she enjoys spending time with family and, specially her family dog Toby, exploring new cuisines, and staying active through Orangetheory workouts.
