Research Interests
My clinical focus is benign and malignant diseases of the small bowel, colon, rectum, and anus. I have strong clinical interest in enhanced recovery after surgery protocols, the surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease, as well as organ sparing approaches in the management of rectal cancer (local excision, Watch and Wait). From a procedural perspective, I believe that laparoscopic colectomy is a core component of resident education and technical development and lays a foundation for further expansion of minimally invasive skills. Additionally, I am interested in robotic pelvic surgery, trans-anal minimally invasive surgery, and sphincter-sparing approaches (LIFT procedure) in the management of fistula-in-ano. The areas that I hope to emphasize in my research include clinical trials related to the interdisciplinary management of rectal cancer as well as biotech/device design. I welcome working with interested medical students or residents in any of these areas.
