About Joel Palko
Joel Palko, M.D., is an ophthalmologist who specializes in providing specialty treatment of advanced glaucoma using minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, laser and traditional surgery.
Dr. Palko joined the WVU Eye Institute and the WVU Department of Ophthalmology faculty in 2019. He serves as an assistant professor. In addition to his clinical duties, Palko also works as a researcher. His research laboratory focuses on ocular biomechanics with the goal of better understanding the underlying causes of glaucoma.
Palko completed the Glaucoma Fellowship Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2019. He completed the Ophthalmology Residency Program at Washington University in St. Louis in 2018. Palko earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University in 2014.
