About Brian Kellermeyer
Dr. Brian Kellermeyer is an Associate Professor and the Residency Program Director in the Department of Otolaryngology at West Virginia University, where he also specializes in Neurotology and Otology serving as Chief of Otology. A native of Maryland, Dr. Kellermeyer earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering, cum laude, and his Doctor of Medicine from West Virginia University. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at WVU and went on to complete a fellowship in Neurotology at the Silverstein Institute in Sarasota, Florida.
In his current role, Dr. Kellermeyer leads residency training, clinical education, and program development while maintaining a robust clinical practice focused on disorders of hearing and balance which include surgical care of chronic ear disease, cochlear implantation, stapedectomy, and lateral skull base CSF leak repair. He has held multiple roles in residency education and quality improvement, previously Director of Patient Safety and current Residency Program Director since 2019. His leadership extends beyond the department as he currently serves as President of the West Virginia Academy of Otolaryngology and serves on the West Virginia University Hospitals Peer Review Committee.
Dr. Kellermeyer’s research spans a wide range of topics in Otolaryngology, with a particular emphasis on auditory neuroscience, vestibular disorders, surgical outcomes in cochlear implantation, and skull base pathology. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and serves as a principal investigator for several clinical trials, including studies on tinnitus and Meniere’s disease. His work has been recognized with oral and poster presentations at national and international Otolaryngology conferences, including his oral presentation on “Vestibular Migraine” yearly at the American Academy of Otolaryngology Annual Meeting.
