Brief bio:

I was born and raised in Webster Springs, WV, and majored in Japanese in undergraduate. I served in the Marine Corps for four years during which time I met my wife. We now have one son. 

What attracted you to WVU surgery for residency?

The greatest attraction for me is that it is in my home state and is the closest program that allows me to remain near my family. My goals are to obtain a well-rounded general surgery education that will permit me to function safely and independently in a rural surgery setting. This goal aligns very well with the curriculum and patient population of WVU. 

What makes our program unique?

In my search for a rural program, Morgantown is perhaps unparalleled in the technical capabilities and breadth of practice that a resident can experience while remaining in a town in the 50K population range. 

What do you like about living in Morgantown?

My favorite part is that I can drive an easy 10 minutes home where I can sit on my back porch looking into the woods and watch animals every evening.

Spending time with his family. Hiking, outdoor activities, digging/hunting ginseng, and morel mushrooms, woodworking, reading, and audiobooks.
