About Andrea Bailey
Andrea Bailey is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Instructor at West Virginia University School of Nursing. Andrea completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at WVU Institute of Technology, Master in Science of Nursing at WVU School of Nursing, and is currently a PhD student in the dissertation phase of study. Her research focus stems from her practice experience caring for trauma, surgical, and medical patients at the bedside and as they transition from acute care. Her program of research is on the intersection between care processes, health disparities, and subsequent outcomes. Her current clinical and research work through the SIMPRO Research Center is funded by the Biden Moonshot initiative through the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute. Her previous research included an analysis aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of a well-known readmission prediction tool, in rural, medical patients and a systematic review aimed at identifying patient factors in participation in transitional care. She is currently the Lead Advanced Practice Registered Nurse for WVU Medicine and teaches undergraduate nursing students in simulated and live clinical settings. Andrea is passionate about caring for patients across their continuum of care while minimizing the risks associated with transitioning care settings.
