About Jessica Neidhardt
Dr. Jess Neidhardt is a proud native of Wheeling, West Virginia. She completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at West Liberty University in 2011. Dr. Neidhardt continued her education at West Virginia University, where she earned her medical degree in 2015. During her time in medical school, she was grateful to be recognized for her academic efforts and became a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies.
After graduating, Dr. Neidhardt began her residency in the Department of Emergency Medicine at West Virginia University. She had the opportunity to serve as Chief Resident during her final year, which allowed her to further develop her skills and commitment to the field. Following her residency, she chose to stay at WVU, where she works on enhancing the simulation program in the Department of Emergency Medicine as the co-director of simulation for the Residency program.
Dr. Neidhardt has been fortunate to receive recognition for her contributions, including being named Faculty of the Year for the 2020-2021 academic year and receiving the Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award during that same period. She was also recognized with the Outstanding Clinician Award by the WVU Department of Emergency Medicine in 2018-2019.
In her role in medical education, Dr. Neidhardt serves as a co-course director for physical diagnosis and clinical coordination for first-year medical students. She has also been honored to receive the Junior Faculty Teacher of the Year award for the School of Medicine.
Additionally, Dr. Neidhardt contributes to the field as a case writer for the oral board certifying exam for the American College of Emergency Medicine.
Starting in the 2025 academic year, Dr. Neidhardt will expand her leadership roles by serving as one of the Assistant Residency Program Directors for the Emergency Medicine Residency at West Virginia University. Additionally, she has been appointed Vice Chair of the Curriculum Committee for the WVU School of Medicine, furthering her commitment to medical education and curriculum development.
Outside of her professional endeavors, she cherishes time with her husband, Chris, and their spirited daughter, Izzy, who has a zest for water activities and adventurous play. A passionate reader, she enjoys immersing herself in fantasy literature, with a particular fondness for the Harry Potter series. Since becoming a mother, her appreciation for all things Disney has grown, often sharing these magical moments with her daughter. She delights in culinary pursuits, frequently experimenting with new recipes in cooking and baking. An enthusiast of Broadway theater, she finds joy in the performing arts. She will also seize every opportunity to travel and discover new experiences.
