Dr. Perrine worked with SRTA on this informational video to explain SRTA patientless exams. The video was shot mostly at WVU School of Dentistry because our school hosted mock board exams on the teeth to serve as a pilot for patientless exams. Following the shoot, COVID-19 forced the issues more quickly than schools or state board officials would have expected.

About Valerie Perrine
Dr. Valerie Perrine graduated from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2009. Dr. Perrine graduated with honors and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon. She received the Most Outstanding WVUSOD Teacher Award in 2017, ASDA student advocacy award (given to a student mentor) for the region in 2019. Selected for the WVU Academy of Excellence in Teaching and Learning, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and both the American and International College of Dentists in 2021.
Dr. Perrine has been in private practice with her father in Cowen, WV, since 2009. She provides comprehensive dental care, including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and oral surgery treatment to patients of all ages. She developed and implemented a school-based dental program for Webster County students and serves as the dental liaison for the Webster County Board of Education and provider of dental services in Webster County Elementary Schools.
Dr. Perrine is currently the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Community Health and Outreach at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. She has over twelve years of teaching experience in preclinical exercises and clinical work, and is course director for two restorative dentistry courses and laboratories. In this role, Dr. Perrine directs the rural rotation outreach program, the global engagement program, the advising program, the mentorship program, the tutoring program, new student orientation, and student events. Currently, Dr. Perrine is serving on the West Virginia School of Dentistry Alumni Association Board of Governors, is on the board for the Center for Rural Health Development, is the Secretary of the West Virginia Dental Association, and Alternate-Delegate to the American Dental Association.
