About Hillary Parcell
Hillary Parcell graduated from WVU Tech in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. After working as an RN in a hospital, she pursued further education and earned a master’s degree in nursing in 2011. She then began her career as a nursing faculty member at a private university before returning to WVU Tech, where she now serves as BSN program chair and associate professor in the WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus. Currently, Hillary is pursuing a Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies at Marshall University. She has a passion for helping Southern West Virginians. In her current role as nursing professor and chair, she can impact the lives of her students and each of the patients they will care for throughout their nursing careers. This significant responsibility is not taken lightly, and it motivates Hillary to remain focused on educating future nurses. Hillary hopes her enthusiasm for teaching and the nursing profession inspires her students to be the nurses our communities so desperately need.
There was never any question where Hillary wanted to attend college. Hillary was honored to be accepted into the well-respected Nursing program at Tech. She wanted a quality education close to home and received just that and so much more. While at Tech, Hillary was awarded Freshman of the Year in 2004 and the Presidential Leadership Award her senior year. Her volunteer work in the local communities and abroad, combined with her academic standing, contributed to this recognition.
Hillary has achieved numerous personal milestones throughout her professional journey, serving as an inspiration to others in her field. In 2017, she was recognized as an emerging leader in her profession in the Future of Nursing West Virginia 40 Under 40. Her most recent accomplishment was being chosen as the 2019 recipient of the Nelson Young Alumni Award, a testament to her dedication and excellence in the field of nursing. In 2024, she was awarded a Mountaineer Values Coin.
Hillary, a Fayette County native, currently resides in Hico, WV with her husband Zack and daughter Amelia. She finds joy in spending time with her family, participating in church activities, and enjoying the outdoors. For Hillary, WVU Tech and Southern WV will always be "Home".
