About Alison Hixenbaugh
Dr. Alison Hixenbaugh is a residency trained pediatric optometrist, specializing in comprehensive pediatric eye exams, contact lenses, and non-surgical management of strabismus, amblyopia, and heterophoric and accommodative disorders. She is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Hixenbaugh received a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Nutrition and Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her Doctor of Optometry program at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where she received clinical honors and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. After receiving her Doctorate, Dr. Hixenbaugh completed an accredited residency program with The Eye Institute of Salus University specializing in pediatrics, binocular vision, and vision therapy.
Before joining WVU, Dr. Hixenbaugh worked in private practice in New Jersey while serving as a Consulting Optometrist for The Eye Institute of Salus University. She also enjoys participating in mission trips and has provided free eye care and spectacles to over a thousand patients in Haiti. She is a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, the American Optometric Association, and the American Academy of Optometry.
