About Tonya Thompson
Tonya Thompson DNP, RN is a Clinical Education Associate Professor of Nursing at West Virginia University. She has taught for 15 years. Her nursing background focuses on homecare of children and adults with long-term nursing care needs and recovery of clients with substance use disorder. Her research interests include compassionate care in transitions of pediatric care, resilience, emotional regulation for student nurses, and compassionate care of clients with substance use disorder. Dr. Thompson’s doctoral work included an evidence-based project to ensure a smooth transition for pediatric clients and families when transitioning from the pediatric intensive care unit to stepdown care.
