Dr. Panitan (Pete) Yossuck is an Associate Professor in Pediatrics who has been at WVU School of Medicine since 2002. He was born in Chiangmai, Thailand and received his medical degree from Prince of Songkla University, Thailand in 1989. He finished his first Pediatric Residency at Prince of Songkla University hospital in 1993. From 1994-1995, he was a member of the Faculty of Medicine at Thammasat University, Bangkok Thailand. He came to the US and completed his second Pediatric Residency at Christ Hospital Medical Center, Oak Lawn, IL in 1997. He went on to complete his fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Georgetown University, Washington DC in 2000. Under Dr. Rosemary D. Higgins, his mentor at Georgetown University, he worked in the animal labs and published articles in ROP. During 2000-2002, he went back to Thailand to join the Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, the oldest and largest medical school in Thailand. He came back to the US and joined the WVU SOM family in 2002 and worked in animal labs, basic science and translational research, while continuing his work as a clinician neonatologist. He became medical director for neonatal transport service at the WVU NICU in 2003 and was the medical director of the WVU NICU until 2014. He is an active member of the Society of Pediatric Research (SPR) and an active fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He has been involved in fellowship training and is currently the medical director of Berkeley Medical Center NICU, the only pre-affiliated level III unit located in the eastern panhandle of WV.
