C. R. “Chuck” Whiteman grew up in eastern West Virginia. He received his undergraduate education at West Virginia University with dual Bachelors of Science Degrees in Chemistry and Animal Science. He is a 1985 graduate of the West Virginia University School of Medicine. He completed his Residency in Emergency Medicine at the Martin Luther King, Jr. General Hospital in Los Angeles, California; serving as Chief Resident in Emergency Medicine. He returned to West Virginia and joined the faculty of the School of Medicine, in what was at that time the Section of Emergency Services, Department of Surgery in the fall of 1988. He helped worked to establish the Department of Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medicine Residency at WVU. He is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at WVU. He has dedicated the last 27 years to providing excellent emergency care to the citizens in the Emergency Department at Ruby Memorial Hospital, to educating medical students and residents in the WVU School of Medicine. His research interests include trauma and stroke emergency care and emergency medical services.
Dr. Whiteman is married with two teenage boys. His non-professional interests revolve around supporting his family. He has been active in public school Parent Teacher Organizations and Morgantown youth baseball serving as officers in these organizations.
