Academic Interests
Dr. Weissman directs the Division of Respiratory Disease Studies (DRDS), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The DRDS mission is to provide national and international leadership for the prevention of work-related respiratory illness, injury, and death. To accomplish this mission, DRDS conducts a broad range of research activities, including surveillance, epidemiology and field studies, and laboratory research. Microbiology-related research includes prevention of work-related allergies and asthma resulting from exposures to microbial agents and their constituents in indoor environments; and preventing work-related transmission of respiratory infections.
