About Richard Vaglienti
Dr. Richard Vaglienti is an Anesthesiologist within the School of Medicine of West Virginia University who specializes in Chronic Pain Management and Fellowship Program. Dr. Vaglienti earned his Doctor of Medicine from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1986 prior to completing an anesthesiology residency from 1986-1990 at WVU. He was appointed to the faculty of the Anesthesiology Department in 1997 as an Assistant Professor. He earned his certification with the American Board of Anesthesiologists in1991. In September 1994, he earned a certificate in Special Qualifications in Pain Management from the American Board of Anesthesiology. In July of 2004, Dr. Vaglienti received a dual appointment with the Department of Neurosurgery. In 2017, Dr. Vaglienti was promoted to Associate Professor. Dr. Vaglienti is the Chronic Pain Rotation Director for both residents of various specialties and medical students. He provides regular neurosurgery, psychiatry and anesthesiology didactic lectures as assigned. Dr Vaglienti has been an invited lecturer on numerous occasions at national, regional and university levels. Dr. Vaglienti also helped develop the opioid prescribing curriculum that is required for WV state licensure renewal. Dr. Vaglienti currently serves as an Associate Professor.
