About Sarah Sofka
Sarah Sofka, MD FACP, Clinical Professor of Medicine, is originally from Wheeling, WV. She graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2008 where she was AOA and completed an Internal Medicine residency at WVU where she also served as chief resident. She accepted a faculty position in the section of General Internal Medicine after her chief year. In 2017, she took over as Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency. She also serves as Vice Chair for Education for the Department of Medicine. She has been Co-Director of Physical Diagnosis and Clinical Integration for second-year medical students since 2013.
Dr. Sofka is involved with the state and national ACP. She is also involved with the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine and has presented at national meetings. Currently, Dr. Sofka chairs the GME Wellness Committee which focuses on preventing resident burnout and promoting wellness. Dr. Sofka spends most of her clinical time on the inpatient teaching general medicine service.
Dr. Sofka resides in Morgantown, WV with her husband, Patrick, and son Andrew.
