Shortly after his arrival in 2006, Dr. Rogers began work on developing WVU’s first free-standing urgent care center. Drawing on his previous urgent care experience at the University of Arizona, Dr. Rogers worked to develop an alternative location for patients to have access to fast, high quality care of their acute, but non-emergent conditions--one that could compliment the high quality care that WVU already delivered in the emergency department and outpatient centers. In September of 2007, WVU Urgent Care proudly opened its doors to the community.  Since its inception, WVU Urgent Care has been a tremendous success, and as of 2016 has provided care to over 200,000 patients.  Also, since 2014 it has opened two new sites in Suncrest and Evansdale.

Besides his work at WVU Urgent Care, Dr. Rogers has worked at a national level to help develop the specialty of Urgent Care Medicine.  This has included being a founding member of both the Board of Certification of Urgent Care Medicine as well as the Urgent Care College of Physicians where he served as Vice President.   Dr. Rogers has spoken on a variety of urgent care topics at national conferences and has had several publications accepted.  He enjoys teaching urgent care medicine at all levels, and is currently an Adjunct Instructor for the WVU School of Nursing as well as Alderson Broaddus University’s Physician Assistant Studies Program.
