About Susan Pinto
Susan Pinto earned her diploma in nursing from Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing Degrees from West Virginia University (WVU). She completed the Family Nurse Certification program at WVU, and became certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is also a certified school nurse in the state of WV.
She joined the faculty at WVU in 2006 as a lecture and was promoted to Clinical Assistant Professor in 2010. Currently, she teaches Community Health in the undergraduate program.
In addition to teaching and Mrs. Pinto is actively engaged in various service activities. She received the faculty award for excellence in civic engagement. Additionally, she has been recognized by WVU SON with Outstanding Faculty awards for service in 2012 and 2014. She is currently completing work on a grant funded project exploring quality of life of children living with asthma. Additionally, she has completed 2 years of WV Public Service grant funded service overseeing nursing and medical students providing services to individuals in transitional housing. Most recently, she received a Community Based care grant to develop an Interprofessional Education project with faculty and students from the school of nursing, dental hygiene and medicine to provide oral health assessment and education to individuals living in transitional housing. She is a member of the WVU SON Faculty Practice Plan and her practice interests focus on women’s health and work with vulnerable populations.
Mrs. Pinto is a board member of the Alpha Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau. She also serves as an advisor to the student nurse association. She maintains professional memberships in ANA, WVNA, AANP, and ACHNE.
