Debra J. Paulson, MD grew up in rural Minnesota. She first worked as a registered nurse at a Level I trauma center in St. Paul, Minnesota. She returned to school at the University of Minnesota, completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Physiology. Following Medical School at the University of Minnesota, she completed a Transitional Year at the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo. The Medical College of Wisconsin at Milwaukee was the site of her Emergency Medicine residency. Following residency she worked at a community hospital, Waynesboro Community Hospital, in Virginia for 4 years. She joined the Emergency Medicine faculty at West Virginia University in July of 1991. Since joining the faculty at WVU, she has served at the Director of Education for the Center for Rural Emergency Medicine. She has also served at the interim Medical Director for the Emergency Department.
