About Scott Lohndorf
Hometown: Boulder, Colorado
Undergraduate institution: Colorado State University
Medical school: Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine – Colorado Campus
Why did you choose WVU?: I chose WVU for the people. I didn’t know much about West Virginia being from Colorado. After my interview I remember a having a feeling that these people were my family and could tell this was a place I would like to bring my family. When I looked more into the beauty of Morgantown I knew it was a perfect fit.
Brief bio: I grew up in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains that started my love for the outdoors with things like hiking, snowboarding, disc golf, and camping. I was a wrestler in high school and into college which led me into studying health and exercise science. I decided to join the Marine Corps before I finished my degree and got to spend 3 years in Japan working as a paralegal. I had the opportunity to travel around the mainland and have climbed fuji (twice), seen sumo wrestling, indulged in Japanese cuisine, and explored the endless beauty that is Japan has to offer. The Marine Corps allowed me time to realize what I wanted to do with my life and I started working as an EMT while finishing up school. I met my now wife while we were both working as EMTs in the ED. We have had the opportunity to travel to places such as the Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, and Spain. We decided that we wanted to grow our family and had our son a year before starting residency which has been the most amazing journey growing into the role of a Dad.
