About Lauren McKee
Hometown: Camden, Arkansas
Undergrad Institution: Louisiana Tech University
Medical School: University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
Why did you choose WVU: I applied very broadly and was open to anything, as my husband and I saw this as a time to try something new. My interview at WVU was by far my favorite! I called everyone (ask my parents and my husband) and went on and on about this awesome program I hadn’t known much about prior to my interview. Everyone was so kind and so laid back and just happy to teach! I flew out to Morgantown to visit West Virginia for the very first time for a second look and fell in love with the hospital and the city. I was raised on college football as my state has no professional teams so moving to a town so dedicated to its college football team has been so exciting! (I’m eager to see how this compares to SEC football.)
Brief Bio: I studied biology in undergrad and went straight to medical school as I’ve dreamed of being a doctor since I was in middle school. I am the first doctor in my family, so that brought on a lot of medical questions since my 1st semester of medical school. If you can’t find me at the hospital, I’m probably reading a good book or listening to music (especially Taylor Swift). I moved out here with my husband, Kevin, and our dog, Millie (AKA Mildred if she has been bad). Me, being from South Arkansas, and Kevin from New Orleans, we are a little scared for our first winter up here (but we have loved a much milder summer so far). We enjoy watching movies, playing board/card games, and taking Millie for adventures.
