Why did you choose WVU?
I chose WVU for two big reasons. First, the people. During my interview and subsequent visit to Morgantown, everyone I encountered was very friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be training at and living around WVU. Second, the city of Morgantown. I grew up right outside Washington, DC, and then lived in the city proper for about 7 years. I got tired of the big city quite quickly! Morgantown is a perfectly sized small city, set within some beautiful mountains, with a great community feel that just fit the bill perfectly for me.
Brief bio:
I was born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland (just north of Washington, DC). For my first 22 years, baseball was life! I was lucky to be given the chance to play baseball in college and I relished every moment I had on the field. While in college I majored in mechanical engineering because I enjoyed math and science and loved to apply it to real world problems. Eventually that interest shifted towards applying my engineering background toward solving medical problems rather than mechanical ones. I love meeting, interacting, and helping people, and working as a doctor is a great combination of solving problems while also having an immediate impact on an individual’s health. Outside of the hospital I enjoy hiking, running, golf, and most other sports. I love spending time with my wife and our cat and dog, and I like trying out new restaurants when I get the chance.
