About Grace Maley
Hometown: Malvern, Ohio
Undergraduate institution: West Virginia University
Medical school: West Virginia University School of Medicine
Why did you choose WVU? My time with the department throughout medical school made staying here for residency an easy choice. Being selected for the MATTER program during my second year felt serendipitous, and my journey thus far has only reaffirmed that this is exactly where I’m meant to be. The strong sense of community I feel within the department as well as the meaningful interactions I’ve already had with our diverse patient population have shown me what an incredibly desirable learning environment WVU EM provides. With the opportunity to train at a Level 1 institution, experience community medicine within an academic setting, learn from inspiring and dedicated faculty, work within a department of amazing people, and continue to explore this beautiful state outside of work, I truly couldn’t imagine a better program for me.
Brief bio: Grace grew up in the small town of Malvern, Ohio. After high school, she moved to Morgantown to attend college at WVU, where she majored in biochemistry and minored in psychology. The deep appreciation she developed for the university, the state of West Virginia, and the people ultimately drew her back to WVU for medical school and now residency. Outside of medicine, most of her time is spent running around with her three dogs. She also enjoys hiking, lifting, slalom skiing, wake surfing, snowboarding, making Spotify playlists, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
