About Nick Royce
Hometown: Kingwood, West Virginia
Undergraduate institution: West Virginia University
Medical school: Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine
Why did you choose WVU? After rotating here during my 4th year of medical school, WVU became the clear choice for me. I was impressed by the wide variety of pathology that walks through the doors of the emergency department. The faculty and residents here are some of the most kind-hearted and enthusiastic people you will meet, and I felt that immediately. WVU is also unique in that it is a large academic center located in a small town. All of these qualities, as well as my family living under an hour away, made WVU Emergency Medicine a great fit.
Brief bio: I was born and raised in a small town 45 minutes south of Morgantown. I attended WVU for undergrad and majored in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. Following the completion of my engineering degree, I took a job as a formulation chemist developing new adhesives. After working a year in industry, I returned to school to pursue a medical degree at Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. Outside of work, I enjoy kayaking, swimming, playing any type of sports, and spending time with family and friends.
