Why did you choose WVU?
I chose WVU because I fell in love with the people, the program, and West Virginia while on my EM away rotation at WVU as a 4th year medical student. In one short month, I felt more at home here than I did at my home institution. Our leadership, Dr. Shaver and Dr. Kiefer are not only incredible mentors but more importantly, have established such a supportive, caring, and family-like environment here at WVU. Our EM program is incredibly well rounded; we care for some of the sickest and most healthcare-deprived patients in the country and through our 3 years of training here we are given the opportunity to practice at academic, community, and rural hospitals.
I grew up in Dade City, a small town outside of Tampa, Florida. I stayed in Tampa for undergrad and medical school but decided it was time to part ways with the sunshine state to spend residency in “Wild and Wonderful” West Virginia. I am very outdoorsy and have spent every free second I have exploring WV- there is beautiful hiking all over the state, world-class rock climbing, mountain biking, and white water rafting/kayaking! Whenever I’m not outside exploring the state, I love hanging out at home cooking and Netflix binging with my two kitties!
