About Patrick Ma
Dr. Patrick Ma is an Associate Professor and Director of Lung Cancer Program at the WVU Cancer Institute at the West Virginia University, Morgantown WV, U.S.A. He is a translational clinician-scientist and co-leader of the Sara Crile Allen and Frederick James Allen Comprehensive Lung Cancer Program at WVUCI. Prior to his WVU arrival, Dr. Ma was Director of Aerodigestive Oncology Translational Research Program in Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute. Dr. Ma is a native from Hong Kong where he completed his B.Sc. degree. He then went on to complete his M.Sc. graduate studies in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, medical school (M.D. degree) as well as family medicine residency postgraduate training at the University of Toronto in Canada. He then came to Boston, U.S.A. where he further completed Internal Medicine residency and also Hematology/Oncology fellowship training at the Tufts Medical Center and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He has considerable expertise in translational and clinical research in lung cancer signaling, genomics, metabolomics and precision therapy. At WVU Cancer Institute, Dr. Ma leads a multidisciplinary lung cancer program to impact cancer disparity in the state of West Virginia. Dr. Ma also chairs the Multidisciplinary Thoracic Tumor Board Conference and Molecular Tumor Board Conference to bring personalized cancer therapy to the patients. He serves as research mentor in the WVU Cancer Cell Biology Ph.D. program. He has authored over 75 scientific papers and reviews as well as 5 book chapters. He is the principle investigator in a number of thoracic and molecular basket clinical trial studies, with his research work published in scientific journals such as Cancer Research, Clinical Cancer Research, and New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Ma also served as the Tumor Biology Track Leader in the Scientific Program Committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2018 annual meeting.
