About Michael Cheshire
Dr. Cheshire received his bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Marshall University and his Doctorate in Osteopathy from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology, American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Osteopathic Board of Medicine. He is Program Director for the WVU School of Medicine Internal Medicine Program at Camden Clark and is the Medical Director of the Camden Clark Internal Medicine Clinic. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, recipient of the Outstanding Preceptor Award in Primary Care by the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and a graduate of the WVU Medicine Laurence B. Mallory Physician Leadership Academy.
His professional interests include primary care, medical education, lipidology, and preventive cardiology. He is an active member of the National Lipid Association and the American Society for Preventive Cardiology. He serves on the board of the Northern West Virginia Rural Health Education Center and regularly teaches courses on safe opioid prescribing throughout West Virginia and in Maryland. Nationally, he serves on the Faculty Advisory Panel of the Collaborative Organizations for REMS Education (CO*RE) and was a chapter author for the CO*RE’s online test-out adaptive learning course for safe opioid prescribing which is available on Medscape. He resides in Parkersburg with his wife Gina and their son Josiah. In his free time, Dr. Cheshire loves to read, watch Premier League soccer, and experiment with heart-healthy plant-based cooking.
