Dr. Minardi directs the curriculum thread within the WVU School of Medicine for clinician-performed ultrasound. He graduated from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2003 and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at WVU in 2006. He has been actively involved in the education of physicians since his appointment to the Department of Emergency Medicine in 2006. Since 2007, he has been director of emergency ultrasound, leading ultrasound education for emergency medicine residents as well as continuing medical education for faculty physicians. Since 2011, he has directed the emergency ultrasound fellowship, the only one in West Virginia. The fellowship aims to produce expert clinician-sonographers that are prepared to educate current and future generations of physicians in bedside ultrasound to improve patient care. Dr. Minardi is active in national organizations to promote and improve ultrasound education for physicians in advanced training programs and undergraduate medical education.
