About Benjamin Birney
Benjamin Birney, MD is an Assistant Professor for the West Virginia University Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He joined the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as a member of the Division of Pain Medicine in 2025. He is board- certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R, 2025; Pain Medicine, 2025). Dr. Birney earned his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University in St. George’s, Grenada, in 2019. He completed his internship at NYC Health + Hospitals Lincoln Hospital, 2020, and his Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at SUNY Health Science Center – Stony Brook in 2023. Dr. Birney then completed his Pain Medicine Fellowship at West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2024
