Heather Kaiser Hayanga, MD, MPH, joined the Department of Anesthesiology of West Virginia University as a member of the Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesiology. She is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (Anesthesiology, 2015) and the National Board of Echocardiography (Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography, 2015). Dr. Hayanga earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine; Cincinnati, OH in 2010. She completed two years of her Anesthesia Residency at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA, then transferred and completed her Anesthesia Residency in 2014 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital; Baltimore, MD. She completed her Fellowship in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology, in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital; Baltimore, MD in 2015. Dr. Hayanga joined the Department as an Assistant Professor from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center; Pittsburgh, PA. She serves as Director of Cardiac Anesthesia Education and Clinical Research. Dr. Hayanga was promoted to an Associate Professor in 2019. Dr. Hayanga started and serves as Program Director for the ACGME-approved Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship program, which commenced in July 2020.
