About Patrick Marshalek
Dr. Patrick J. Marshalek is a Psychiatrist who practices Chronic Pain Management and Psychiatry within the School of Medicine of West Virginia University. Dr. Marshalek’s primary appointment is in the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry. Dr. Marshalek received a joint appointment with the Department of Anesthesiology in August 2015. He is currently an Associate Professor.
Dr. Marshalek provides inpatient and outpatient services at both Ruby Memorial Hospital and Chestnut Ridge Hospital. He is the medical director for Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), RMH Psychiatry consults, and RMH Pain Research Management. Dr. Marshalek is the Chair of the Behavioral Medicine/Emergency Department Relations Committee. He is the co-director the RMH Pain Committee and is a member of the Department of BM&P Promotion and Tenure Committee, Resident Recruitment Committee, and the CRH QI Committee. He has recently assumed Directorship of the Geriatric Unit.
Dr. Marshalek is the Assertive Community Treatment Medical Director and has contributed significantly to the Comprehensive Opiod Addiction Treatment Clinic through work with Pregnancy COAT, General COAT, and by providing telemedicine services to increase healthcare access. Dr. Marshalek serves as the Thread Director for the Curriculum Committee at WVU School of Medicine, and through this is helping to train medical students in appropriate opioid prescribing practices in accordance with the new CDC guidelines.
